“Slå på ring …"—Is this Norwegian hot potato or something? I understood most of the words, but I have no idea what it actually means.

I put a short explanation in the tags of that post, but I can’t blame anyone for missing that.

You’re on sort of the right track, but it’s not hot potato, it’s a Norwegian variant of duck duck goose.

Strike on ring, strike on ring
Strike whoever you want
Strike your boy-/girlfriend* if you want
The one you strike, you strike so hard, so hard, so hard…

The ring in question is the one the players sit in. One player walks around the ring as the people in it sing this. They repeat the bit that means “so hard” until the person on the outside hits someone in the back, who then has to get up and try to catch the first person before they make it around and sit down in the newly opened spot.

So technically, this is a children’s song about violence. Fun!

Any new thoughts on the Siberian Bonesaw relationship?

Ehh. I guess this means Siberian’s affection for Bonesaw might count as paternal rather than maternal, but beyond that…

I mean, when it comes to the other option, this changes just about nothing. It’d be just as pedophilic if Siberian had a vagina as if they had a dick. (Incidentally, she apparently doesn’t, unless manifesting genitals takes more power for some reason.) The one thing it does change is whether they’d be able to make Bonesaw pregnant.

This does make me think, though – does Bonesaw know? Has she installed her protections on Siberian’s real body?

Also, I suppose there is the more wholesome possibility that Siberian actually is Bonesaw’s biological parent. I don’t see a connection between their powers, though, so I doubt it.

Tomorrow I’m having a mouth operation, so I don’t know what kind of condition I’ll be in over the next few days. I’m going to try to do asks on Thursday, though, and the next chapter on Friday. See you then!

(Between chapters)

(Prey 14.1, part 1, part 2)

Oops. I forgot to request the asks because my brain was telling me I had planned a chapter today, not asks, and now I think Sharks has gone to sleep.

(Don’t get on Sharks’ case about this, please. We’ve agreed it is my responsibility to request the asks rather than Sharks’ to send them unprompted on ask days, so this is my fault, not hers.)

I do feel like I should be doing the asks before I move on to the next chapter, though, and I am a bit sleepy, so I think I’m going to go ahead and push things back by a day. I might still start the chapter tomorrow, though, if it turns out there aren’t many asks. See you then!

I do wonder what Amy would sense if she tried to use her power on Monochrome Siberian.

Siberian is supposedly immune to powers, so she might not think too much of it if she sensed nothing, but there is some interesting middle ground.

It is possible that Armsmaster’s relevance in the Interlude was a mix of misdirection and natural result of the focus on the PRT, but I doubt it.

For one thing, assuming Armsmaster has his armor and especially his Halberd, Amy is way easier prey. Armsmaster is way more likely to actually stay alive from Cherish bringing up the prey to the Undersiders heading out.

As long as he hasn’t stopped running to fight her yet, that is.

End of Prey 14.1

Huh. I suppose Siberian is the prey now. Among others. Honestly I think everyone is prey in this Arc.

This was a very nice chapter. It started out quite casually with a cozy breakfast and adorable shipping fuel, neatly segued into Cherish trying to manipulate the Undersiders, and gave us the revelation that Siberian has a vulnerable male body for the Undersiders (and probably the Travelers) to go after. We also got a scene of Rachel taking the initiative to understand Taylor for once, which was nice.

Even as the tone got a little darker, he content less breakfast-centric, and Cherish’s attempts at manipulation sent off icky vibes, the chapter stayed pretty casual right up to the end, which I appreciate. It’s a calm between the storms, and hoo boy we’re in for a storm.

This isn’t going to be anywhere near as easy as “show up nearby, find Siberidude (Dudeberian? Siberiman.) with the bugs, off them and go home”. There’s got to be complications, and I’d say the monochrome Siberian counts as a big one. Her prey might also cause trouble in his own way. Please tell me he’s not trying to fight her head on…

He’s trying to fight her head on, isn’t he.

Come on, Colin. She’s very close to an Endbringer in melee power, and you’ve already used up aaaaaaaall the luck against one of those. It didn’t work out for you then.

Anyway, this ought to be a wild ride, and I’m looking forward to it. See you soon!
