Sentinel 9.6

hOI!!1

It’s the moment of truth… time to find out whether or not we’re getting a chapter from Sophia’s point of view. I think we are, especially because this chapter comes immediately after Sophia escaped from the last chapter. It’s a nice potential transition into following her instead, perhaps getting some answers to Vista’s questions as her words brew in Sophia’s head.

The main alternative I see is that this chapter follows Chariot, but that seems less likely. If we’re getting chapters from both his POV and Sophia’s, his’ll probably be the next one.

I don’t think there’s much else to say, so let’s go!

End of Sentinel 9.5

This was a good time.

We got to see the needle gals meet again, some insight into Vista’s philosophy of focusing on the present (something I actually share to some extent, though not because I expect I might die), her issues re: being patronized and taking responsibility in Aegis’ and Gallant’s stead, some fantastic advice from Weld and an interesting confrontation between Sophia and Vista.

Phew, this one was chock full of really good content! I guess that’s why it’s about 4 AM now.

Next chapter, I’m about 79% sure we’re following Shadow Stalker on patrol from her own POV, probably stewing with thoughts about the confrontation she just had. She might not be willing to tell Vista what her deal is, but maybe she’ll finally tell us.

Failing that, I guess we might be skipping Shadow Stalker in favor of what I think 9.7 might be (if it exists): A chapter from Chariot’s point of view as he joins the Wards. If that’s a thing we get to see in the next chapter or 9.7, it ought to be interesting.

See you then!

Sentinel 9.5

Hello, beauties! It’s time for another round of Worm liveblogging!

Last time, we traveled with Kid Win to meet Chariot, the new mecha speedster who’s been running around, but… something’s not quite right. It seems he may have been snapped up by villains and is planning a Reverse Taylor – but Kid is wise to his apparent plotting, and has called a meeting of the Wards and Piggot. Maybe we’ll get to see this meeting in today’s chapter.

I suspect we’re going to be following Vista this time, in which case we’ll probably learn more about her too. I’ve grown to like Vista, so that sounds nice.

If it’s not Vista, it’s probably Shadow Stalker… could be interesting, though if I were the one writing this (as if I would ever be this good at it), I think I’d save that for last.

So yeah… Without further ado, let’s get on with it!

End of Sentinel 9.4

This was neat. We did get to see the end of the Traveler fight, learned who might be (and probably are) behind the corpses they found in 9.3, got to know Kid Win a bit better, and uncovered a possible wrestler Reverse Taylor plot in the making.

Shame Kid Win’s excellent recruiting skills are probably going to waste.

I mean, it’d be a hell of a thing if they pulled a Tattletale and invited him in with everyone being fully aware of his apparent real alignment. I doubt Piggot would allow that kind of shenaniganry, though. And, honestly, it sounds like the kind of thing one of them might suggest and then have everyone else immediately shoot down… maybe Tattle was right to keep it to herself.

Next chapter, we’ll probably learn what the Wards intend to do about this. I’m going to guess that Vista is our next POV character, which sounds like a good time. 🙂

There’s only her and Shadow Stalker left, so assuming we’re covering everyone, it’s just a question of which one comes first. Maybe we’ll also throw in a Piggot chapter, but that seems less likely.

So far, I really appreciate this Arc. It’s nice to get to know the Wards a bit better without having to cram it all into one Interlude, and we’re getting to see how they all deal with the situation after Leviathan’s visit, while also introducing new subplots involving characters like the Slaughterhouse Nine and Chariot. Hopefully the latter two aren’t connected. I don’t know much about them yet, but I feel like the Slaughterhouse Nine are among the last ones you’d want trying to infiltrate the Wards.

So yeah. See you next time!

The Wards playing Ultimate Chicken Horse

  • Clockblocker’s the parkour master, generally placing small platforms that are hard to jump between and then flawlessly doing so. Favorite level: Windmill.
  • Kid Win places hockey pucks whenever he can, and otherwise focuses on making deadly contraptions with honey and rotating pieces. He also likes the rideable paper planes. Favorite level: The Pier.
  • Shadow Stalker and Flechette both like the crossbows, but Shadow Stalker is far more ruthless with her placement of them. She also places a lot of other traps. To her, it’s not about winning so much as killing the others in brutal ways. Favorite level: Metal Plant.
  • Besides placing crossbows and black holes whenever she can, Flechette is good at wall jumping. Favorite level: Old Mansion.
  • Weld is not very good at the jumping. He typically tries to make things easier for everyone, and just wants them all to have fun. Favorite level: Rooftops.
  • At first Vista only played for the cute animals, but soon enough she became by far the most skilled player among all of them. She’s surprisingly cruel with her traps, and insanely good at moving through the levels. Plays with a 50% handicap and still often wins. Favorite level: Waterfall.

Sentinel 9.4

Let’s barrel right on through to 9.4! Chances are I’ll have to divide this chapter as a result, but that’s okay.

So, to recap what I just wrote at the end of Sentinel 9.3: In this chapter, we’ll probably be taking a closer look at how Kid Win is dealing with all of this, and whether his continued jovial attitude is a front or not.

Also, we might learn more about the crime scenes from the previous chapter and the outcome of the Traveler battle.

That’s pretty much all I have to say, which is good because I want to dive into this. Let’s go!

End of Sentinel 9.3

This was a very nice look into Clockblocker’s, Vista’s and Glory Girl’s states in the wake of Leviathan’s attack. We got to learn about Clocky’s dying dad, followed by a heartwarming bonding between Clockblocker and Vista over the memory of Gallant.

Additionally, we learned about possible correlations between trigger events and powers, the fact that Glory Girl (and maybe Panacea – after Interlude 3, I have a hard time believing she would quit unless forced to, even if she doesn’t enjoy being a hero) might join the Wards, and the fact that someone (possibly Fenrir’s Chosen) is quite brutally murdering and desecrating people in broad daylight.

Why were the Travelers at one of the crime scenes? Maybe we won’t find out. Maybe they just happened to find it right before the Wards arrived? Maybe they were the ones to contact the Wards in the first place, and didn’t evacuate the premises quickly enough, though that seems unlikely. Especially since no one brought that up.

I don’t think we’ll get to see the end of the battle. I feel like the outcome wasn’t the point of it, so much as showing Weld and Clockblocker working together and addressing Clocky’s feeling of belonging in the battle. That said, we’ll probably find out who won… my money’s on the Travelers, just because I don’t think there’s much point in having them arrested right now and they did seem to have the upper hand in the fight.

Next chapter, we’re presumably continuing our trek through the Wards. I suppose the ones left are Kid Win, Vista and Shadow Stalker.

Glory Girl might also count. These last two chapters have sort of covered Shadow Stalker, Vista and Glory Girl to some extent as well as their respective POV characters, so I’m not completely sure we’re getting chapters from their POVs at all. As such, my guess is that Kid Win is up next. Out of all the OG Brockton Bay Wards, he seems to be dealing with this the best, but appearances can be deceiving.

See you then! Which is to say… now!

Sentinel 9.3

You know what? I’m kinda bored. Let’s slip in one last liveblog session before New Year’s!

Howdy!

Last night we saw Brockton Bay from the perspective of Flechette, as she tried to patrol with Sophia only to find out how comfortable the latter was with violence and revenge. Then she went and pursued cameraderie and love with the other needle gal, Parian, and it was sweet.

This chapter, we’re… following another hero. That’s honestly all I’m sure of. When the chapters start switching between different POV characters, it’s very difficult to predict anything solidly, as you’ve seen time and time again with the Interludes.

So right now, I think it’s best that I just let the chapter come to me, and we’ll see what happens!

End of Sentinel 9.2

This was a very nice chapter. We got to follow Flechette as she a) gave us a look into Sophia’s approach to being a hero when Taylor’s not present, and b) warmed our hearts with the smooth beginnings of a beautiful lesbian romance that will hopefully blossom like a Lily.

I loved it, especially the latter part. Also, please let me know what some of the ship names for Lily x Sabah are. I’m sure there are some very nice ones.

As for next chapter, who knows. It seems we are going for the multiple hero POV approach to this Arc, so unless I’m wrong about that, we’re checking out another hero’s POV next time. Maybe Kid Win’s, or Clockblocker’s? Or maybe we’re visiting one of the adults next?

It’s also worth noting that both the heroes we’ve seen the POV’s of over the last two chapters have had something in common, namely that they just arrived. It’s possible that we’ll be alternating between these two, but I don’t find it particularly likely.

Anyway, that’s all for tonight. See you next year!

Sentinel 9.2

Wiggity wiggity wazzup, dude bros? I’m Krixy Fresh and I’m in the crib to livity livity liveblog some radical wormity wormity– *THWACK*

Ouch… Yeah, can’t blame you. I was practically asking for that knuckle sandwich.

Anyway, it’s time to read some Worm! We’re moving on to Sentinel 9.2, which I hope will continue from 9.1 by following Weld as he tries to rectify the awkwardness he landed himself in last chapter.

It’s also possible that we’ll stop by a different hero, or Taylor. That damn cliffhanger from 8.8 is still in effect, so I certainly wouldn’t say no thanks to checking in on Taylor and, maybe, the Undersiders.

Without further ado, let’s dive in!
