Buzz 7.4

ALL HAIL THE GLOW CLOU– I mean, hi! It’s time for me to read some more Worm!

So, last chapter seemed to conclude the Taylor/Rachel bonding time for now – but Brian is on his way, so I don’t think we’ll be leaving the doghouse just yet. Unless we’re going back to the Loft, I suppose, or (unlikely) skipping Brian’s reaction to what happened last chapter with the E88 members trying to either drive Rachel out or kill her – an incident which may have large lasting consequences, depending on how much Kaiser sees through his lackeys’ bullshit, how much he cares that it’s bullshit if he does, and how much he personally wants the Undersiders out of his way.

For the first two points, I’m guessing “easily” and “not particularly”, respectively, but for the third, it’s a bit less clear. I get the impression that Kaiser sees the Undersiders as not particularly threatening, but they are a minor obstacle when it comes to taking over the Docks, which has been a known goal of the E88 ever since Interlude 2. On top of that, Kaiser is a manipulative bastard who knows how to spin people, so he may very well have hidden his true opinions on the Undersiders behind a more careless facade. And if he’s figured out that the Undersiders work for Coil, or if he eventually does, all bets are off.

…I seem to have talked more about the events of last chapter than about this chapter in this post. Oh well,

I suppose that’s what happens when I have next to no idea what this chapter will be about (other than Brian’s reaction).

But hey, you know what that means? It means I’d better dive in and find out!

End of Buzz 7.3

Bonding between Rachel and Taylor is kind of quiet and lowkey, but it’s still bonding. And this chapter had quite a bit of excellent Rachel-Taylor bonding. Taylor is beginning to understand Rachel better, and Rachel is beginning to respect Taylor more. It’s great on both ends. 🙂

And then there’s the encounter with Tom, Draco Bottlefoy and the other skinheads. Rachel showed her more level-headed side, which was cool, and then Taylor became a bug monster and scared the E88ers away, which was awesome.

…hm. We never did get an explanation for 83. Maybe it’s something one could look up, or maybe I’ll learn about it later in the story. We’ll see, I guess!

Next time, we’ll probably get to know what Brian has to say about what happened here, whether it’s through Taylor’s narration or actually getting to see the scene starting immediately after Taylor filled him in on what happened. Other than that, though, I have no idea what’s up next. The end of this chapter does seem like the end of Rachel-Taylor bonding time for now, though maybe I’m mistaken.

So… yeah. See you then!

End of Buzz 7.2

Either I was faster than I thought, or this was a short chapter. Either way, it was a good one. I really feel like we made some progress on Taylor and Rachel getting along, and Taylor tagging along allowed Rachel to cure a dog of a potentially fatal disease, which I count as a win.

Next time… well, one of two options: Either we follow Taylor to get lunch, or we pick back up when she returns to the doghouse. If it’s the former, that’ll bode ill from the start – if there’s a chapter about Taylor going out for lunch, something’s bound to come up on that trip. Maybe she’ll run into someone, like Emma or Danny, or there’ll be some kind of parahuman situation going on.

I honestly think the next chapter starting when she comes back is more likely, but it not doing so is a possibility worth considering.

I guess I’ll just have to find out when I get there. See you then!

End of Buzz 7.1

This was another good chapter… honestly, that feels like the norm these days.

We started the Arc off with some hot Brian on Taylor action adorable ship fuel, which is always welcome. Then we got to learn about Alec’s dark and troubled past, and the piece of shit that is Heartbreaker. It was high time we learned more about Alec, and 6.8 finally opened that opportunity for us.

And then, at the end, we got to watch Taylor put her knowledge from the end of Hive to use and figure out how to make Rachel let her tag along to doggy heaven. The next chapter ought to be rather interesting, allowing us to learn some more about Rachel, develop her relationship with Taylor and probably deal with a whole bunch of dogs. It’s bound to be adorable… and maybe a bit sad, seeing as most of the dogs are there because previous owners mistreated them.

I’m very much looking forward to that. See you then!
