Regent closed the phone, threw it casually into the air, and then caught it on the way down.  He did that a few more times, thinking.

So should he reveal Taylor’s identity to Shadow Stalker? Probably not. Will he? Maybe.

“Huh,” he said.

Long seconds passed.  He knew he should feel bad for the dork, but he only felt annoyed.  He felt worse about the fact that he didn’t feel bad than he did about what he’d just read.

Ouch.

Something to thank father for, maybe.

Yeah, probably. Also doesn’t help that one of your bodies has intense negative feelings about Taylor.

“You are not a nice person,” he spoke to Sophia with a note of irony in his voice.  He could feel her try to respond.

Heh.

You’re a mean one, Ms. Hess, and

The man took the laptop, swallowed, and then offered a quick bob of his head.  The others in the assembled group around Coil looked just as alarmed by what they’d overheard.

Yeah, no shit. A trustworthy source just told them there’s a good chance everyone’s going to die within the next three at worst, twenty at best years.

“We should contact the local heroes,” Grue spoke.  “Let them know what’s up.”

Coil nodded, slowly, “I’ll look into it.  That said, I think the numbers illustrate one thing.  You are not equipped to fight that group.  If you encounter them, you-“

Run. Run like the wind.

Wait, the wind doesn’t have legs.

“Sixty percent,” Dinah muttered.

“Sixty percent, pet?”

What, the chance that the Undersiders are going to run into the Slaughterhouse Nine? Or one of Coil’s groups in general?

“Sixty percent chance the Undersiders encounter some of those people.”

Yeeah, I doubt we’ll be seeing one of the timelines in the 40%.

My Little Undersiders: Wildbow is Magic by ChromaCurves, submitted by defectivealtruist 😀 This is really cu– OH SHIT THEY HAVE PARASPRITES BROCKTON BAY IS DOOMED QUICK WHERE’S A TRUMPET *ahem* As I was saying, this is really cute! I love the little touches, like Taylor apparently controlling the parasprites, trying to put one on whoever that […]

Tattletale maintained the electrical assault on the bars even as she joined us in taking cover with her back to the magazine stand.  The gun she was holding began to whine, with a pitch so high I could barely hear it.

That is probably not a good sign.

Bentley reacted, though, turning his head one way, and then the other.  It made Bitch’s job of holding his collar and ensuring he stayed behind cover twice as difficult.

Heh.

The bolts holding the bars to the window frame melted before the bars themselves did.  One side swung free, then the entire assembly dropped down on top of a bookshelf.

Excellent. Now you just need to move that away so you don’t burn yourself climbing over it. Maybe Bentley can handle it?

The entire room shuddered as Dragon forced her way through the display window.  One gigantic metal talon slammed down on the bookshelf, annihilating most of our cover, and we scrambled to find shelter behind the remaining stands.

Whoop.

Her back legs began working their way towards us, the front of her body staying stationary.  This made her back arch, and her head and shoulder mounted turrets gradually shifted to point downward.

Even though we know there’s a nervous system in there, it’s still interesting how the narration equates the mech and Dragon herself. I suppose it’s just a shorthand so Wildbow doesn’t have to constantly write “Dragon’s suit’s” and the like, but still.

It would be seconds before she was spraying the foam down from directly above us.

The armbands.  Armsmaster had said it prioritized orders based on need.

There’s been surprisingly little use of the broadcast feature, honestly.

My left arm hung by my side, and I couldn’t even bring myself to raise it.  Just gravity and the weight of my hand pulling down on it was excruciating.  The idea of pressing the buttons was too much.

Hmm.

I reached for the person next to me, grabbed her wrist.  Some woman with a crescent moon on a blue costume.  She gave me a startled look with a lost, shellshocked expression.  When I first pressed against the communications button, she moved her arm, as if she thought I was guiding her movements.

Should probably have said something first.

For now I’m calling this woman Princess Luna.

“Someone get him out of there!  He’s going to suffocate!” I shouted, my voice made that much more edgier and strained by the pain I was in.  My voice, though, coincided with no less than five other cries, all rising to be heard over everyone else.

Sounds like people are unanimous on this.

But if Clockblocker’s frozen the water around himself in time along with Leviathan, there’s no known way to get him out, is there? Much like with the bugs in Agitation, he’s trapped.

Trap Leviathan, contain him, use more of those grenades to get him before he got free.

Okay, so not unanimous. Never mind that part.

But yeah, if they can find a more permanent method of containment before he unfreezes, that would be really good.

Someone was even shooting arcs of lighting at Leviathan’s frozen form.  Too many commands from too many people who hadn’t fought with or against Clockblocker, who didn’t know how his power worked, who had conflicting ideas on what we had to do.

Yeah, that’s an issue too – lots of these people don’t know Clocky’s power.

This chaos would fuck us over, keep us from accomplishing anything before Leviathan got free.  We needed order, and most of the people who could have given it to us were out of action or nowhere nearby.

…Taylor, you were looking for a way to help, right?

Damn, if we’re actually resolving this by way of Taylor taking charge of the situation, that’s pretty close to something I considered jokingly suggesting a couple chapters ago: That Taylor would find herself organizing the efforts.

(That would’ve been an extension of the MLP:FiM reference I made back in 8.2 – I was comparing Taylor trying to figure out how she could help against Leviathan to Twilight Sparkle trying to figure out how she could help wrap up winter without magic, and Twilight ended up organizing the project.)

I pressed the communicator button and spoke, “Skitter.”

My name appeared on the display, with a yes and no display in the corners over the respective buttons.  I confirmed it.

I feel sorry for any capes in the room with a Scottish accent. I mean, sure, Dragon is extremely skilled, but some things never change.

Legend was still organizing the groups.  “-forcefields, telekinesis, whatever your power, if you can interrupt Leviathan’s movements or help reduce the impacts of the waves, you’re the backup defense!  Bastion will direct you!”

Regent, you’re up.

If there isn’t a group for messing with his senses, I guess obscuring his vision could count as falling under this? Probably not, though.

I was also all too aware that the size of the group that was still sitting was dwindling, and I had no place to go.

“Movers!  We need fliers, teleporters, runners!  You’ll be responding to pings!  Rescue the fallen, get them to emergency care, assist any others where needed!  Myrddin will give you your orders!

I’m sure you’ll find somewhere to be. If nothing else, parahuman abilities are so varied that there has to be a misc group.

Meanwhile, Taylor can be Twilight Sparkle for a moment:

Leviathan wrap-up, Leviathan wrap-up
Let’s finish our all-alive cheer

Leviathan wrap-up, Leviathan wrap-up
